CHICKEN FEET IN SOUP?! WHAT'S NEXT? EMAIL 2/24/2014

ROOTH AND SHEYLA

NOCHE MISIONAL

so monday was p day and we just played some soccer and volley ball. then tues we had a baptism of aaron 13 and angel 9 who are family of nathaly and geral and such. everything went great! there was a little kid though who dropped his pants and pooped on the sidewalk haha. ya.... his parents either didnt know or didnt care haha. then after we were talking to the friend of rosa and there was an earthquake! crazy. wasnt big but you could feel it.  then wednesday, we talked with some of our recent converts and then with rooth and sheyla who will be baptized saturday. then we had noche hogar (FHE) with mauldwin and reyes in their area. we each shared a little scripture and message. i shared mosiah 24:12 and talked about how god knows us perfectly and we can ask for anything through prayer. then we had this soup..... so it tasted good but it had chicken feet in it. they literally just cut the feet off and cooked it with everything. i got 2 feet in my bowl. and elder reyes the peruvian would put the whole foot in his mouth and chewed and sucked until it was just a bunch of the toe bones.... i gaged the whole way home and then we got chased by a giant german sheperd and had to vault over a wall in order to not die haha. thursday we talked to rooth and sheyla again and will be baptized friday or the next day not saturday haha. then we did some paper work at our mission leaders house and did some paper work. then on our way home the train past right past us! sooo cool!!!  then fri, we had the baptisms of rooth and sheyla. all went great and the spirit was there. it was just awesome. haha.  then we went and talked to the family of the little girls that we baptized a while back and then we had noche misional and had a little puppet show which was fun. about the stories of the ten virgins and also the good samaritan. really fun. oh ya when i was saying the baptism prayer i felt good and that it was like that through me, god was forgiving her of all her past sins and when i brought her out of the water she was literally perfect right then. pretty cool. then sat, we were studying at 11:30  and there was another earthquake! crazy it was just like the last one but it is crazy that i have felt two within just one week! ahhhhhhhhh! haha.  then we went to an inactive girls house and she came to the door oh and she is in her earlyish 20s. and she told us that she is now attending to the catholic church. so my comp shared a scripture that said people like her are negating the spirit and that she is going to hell. ya.. and then her grandma came over and she also was a member but is now catholic.  and lets just say that they both, her and e´ carcamo exchanges some not very nice words. i sorta just stood there. ya.. well. idk. then sunday and aaron sheyla and rooth all got confirmed. angel was late so we will have to confirm him next sunday.  the blessings were all super powerful. the bishop did 2 of them and they both were incredible. and i got to participate in the one of sheyla and rooth. really cool. then we went to the mission leaders house for lunch and we had ground beef tacos with guacamole and pico de gallo. sooooooo goooooood. haha. i ate 9 tacos and a big peice of corn and a huge slice of watermelon. delicious. reminded me of home. then we visited a bunch of families to say goodbye. and then went over to family paes and had the birthday party! oh and one other thing. i have been using the same 3 pair of socks for the past week and a half because mamita went on vacation and we couldnt find the bag of socks she cleaned before she left. we tried to find them and we thought someone accidently threw them away because they were all in like a grocery bag. but then we found them today, this morning haha. yaaa. well. have a great week everyone! i love and miss every single one of you more than you know!!!!!! LOVE DALLON

ON THE BUS

SOOOO CUTE!

ok so monday, we played a little soccer and then we helped papito paint some boards. then mauldwin made a pizza for dinner. soooo good haha. then tues i talked a lot! i feel like im am almost to the point where i can understand everything just about. and i can almost always get my point across of what i want to say. soooo awesome!!!  we talked to 4 investiogators who are preparing for baptism this next week.  sheyla rooth angel y aaron. then we had noche hogar (FHE)in katchawakra which is in mauldwins area and far up on the mountain but it was fun! there were a lot of people and it was just great! the spirit was way strong!.  mauldwin and reyes gave a great lesson on why we have trials and how god helps us through them. and how he will never give us something that we cant handle.  really great lesson. then tues we went to the denstist for the last time and i sent my letters to everyone!!!  then wed, we went to ticlio!! the farthest we can go in our mission boundary. it borders huancayo! with went up with mamita y papito in their car!.  we stopped in a littly city and then had to take a taxi the rest of the way up. oh and we got to ride in this double decker bus part way! it was super big and comfy haha. you could practically lay down in each seat.  when we got to the top we could see some snow but not much. i found some sweet rocks haha. then it started hailing!! crazy! it was freezing and there was thunder and lighting! it was miserable but great!! haha. then me elder carcamo and mamitas daughter belen hitch hiked back down to papito and their car... haha.  its actually really normal to hitch hike here. oh and before, on the way up, everything was green and there were a bunch of waterfalls and it was amazing! and on the way up i rode in the back of the car, like the trunkl sorta but not, with belen and she fell asleep sprawled out so it was really uncomfortable. haha. and then after we ordered godfathers pizza for dinner! haha so awesome.  then thurs, at 1015 the zone leaders called and told me i needed to wake up at 5 to go to lima to meet with the president. all of the new missionaries had to. just to be taught now that we are leaving our training. we got there at like 730 they told us some normal stuff like be obedient dont flirt with girls and stuff like that haha. then we got back at our room at 330. lets just say i was tired today haha. then fri, happy valentines day! i think haha. today we talked to an investigator who we found out that she is actually a member haha. but her husband isnt. so we will be trying to get them married and him baptized!!. the others are sheyla and rooth  17 and 18 yr old girls who have a date for next saturday. and aaron and angel who have a date for tues. they are 13 and 9 i think. not sure.  sat, we visited hna eudocia and right when we went in she started crying and said that we brought the spirit with just walking in.  crazy. to have that spirit with us always. then we taught rooth and sheyla again. that was it for today.  then sun was elder mauldwins birthday!!  we went to church and it was our turn to talk. so i talked about having a strong foundation and then teaching our children so that they can have a strong foundation too. i used the helaman 5 vs. 12 scripture,  then we went back and cooked the legit pachamancha that mamita sent fotos of to you.  it was awesome and really good. haha. then we ate that and tres leches cake! so good. then we had a noche hogar at a members with a less active teen who doesnt want to go to church because he thinks god doesnt care about him because he let his brother die.  anyway the spirit was super strong. i felt inspired to share dc 58 vs 2 through 4 and when i started to talk it wasnt me talking. it was the spirit. really neat experience. i love it.  oh another thing is that february here is called carnival. and the whole month people play with water. so we have had our own water fights haha. oh and a member of the family that we taught, his name is angel, gave me a tie from chile!  coool.  anyway i love all of you so much! have a great week and look for my letters!!!! love you!!!!

WEEVILS IN RICE?!! EMAIL 2/10/14

FRESIA'S BAPTISM

HOW SWEET!

DANIELAND DALLON

so Monday, so first we were able to watch Madagascar 2 which was awesome and hilarious and then we were able to watch the croods with the whole zone.  even though it was in Spanish  it was still really good. i cant wait to actually be able to watch movies in English again so that i can actually know what is going on. haha.  then we played volleyball as a zone without a net, but it was still a blast. then we had fhe with mamita and we made the muffins and they were a hit!! then Tues we walked a lot.  i felt like i made a difference when i talked to some investigators. however we only visited like 3 people because my comp talked to these 2 girl investigators for like 2 hours. ya.. anyway, we did find a family who i can just tell will all be baptized. the mom is really open to the gospel and wants to learn.  the moms name is Elizabeth. however they aren't married so that will need a bit of paperwork and stuff but all is well! then wed, was your birthday! happy birthday again! haha. so today my comp had something wrong in his tooth so we went to a dentist and he is going to have to get sorta like a root canal thing. not exactly sure. so later we went and he got a hole drilled up into the back of his tooth and stuff.  looked really painful which is why i dont want to go to the dentist here. haha. i did have an interesting experience. so there was this bigger girl in the back seat of the taxi we were in, and long story short she got out and paid a guy money and then he gave her this bag and i am sure it was drugs. so i witnessed a drug deal. weird. haha.then Thurs, we went up to cupiche which is the area a ways up. and i was talking to the a member there and my comp went to invite her less active sisters, right by us. anyway he came back and told the mom that people like her daughters are terrible people and that the mom would need to pray for them and their salvation because they are sinning.  ya... anyway today was the day that i did receive my package and i was sooo happy to get all the letters.  I'm trying to read at least 2 every night. there are just a lot haha. oh also when i was talking to the member she told me her conversion story and how when she went to pray about whether everything was true or not, some spirit stopped her from praying.  then after the 3rd time she prayed and was overwhelmed with joy and happiness.  really cool to hear peoples conversion stories.  it helps build my own testimony about the gospel. so Fri, we visited the dentist again to do some more stuff on his tooth. we still have to go back again Tuesday morning for one more appointment. then we visited an investigator named Carmina who is 14 and all we need to do is get permission from her parents in order to baptize her. then we talked to the two girl investigators i talked about earlier that he talked to for a while. they also just need to get permission to be baptized. then we had noche misional. really fun. and then we cleaned the font to prepare for the baptism font for the baptism of Fresia. who is a relative of the paes family and she is 12 i think or 14 cant remember.  so sat, we had the baptism and i was the one who baptized her! she was one of the investigators where i talked a lot and made a big difference.  so awesome!!! before the baptism the spirit was so strong and then when i baptized her i just felt happy. it was great. she is number 10!!! i love the mission. then we went back up to cupiche and contacted and got a lot of new investigators. then sunday we had church an Fresia got confirmed! sweet.  then we went to the bishops house and as we were eating i noticed that there were weevils in the rice. i told elder Mauldwin in English but neither of us wanted to say anything so we just tried to pick them all out.  really gross i almost threw up a couple times as i was eating but other than that it all tasted good haha! then we helped bake this jello ish cake thing with hna Bettsi and Diego.  really fun and delicious!! i love you all!!!! have a great week everyone!!!

DALLON EATING "DRAGON FRUIT" OTHERWISE KNOWN AS TUNA?!

so monday, so first i got a haricut!! haha then we played some volley ball with a lot of people which was a blast.  then we had to clean the baptism font because a black cat got in it and drowned in the water... ya not something you find every day haha. so that was fun.  the we had our family home evening and i gave the lesson!! i felt proud of myself haha.  then tues, i received my package!!! as you know. then we taught some new investigators and all went well. then we went to the paes family and had some cake.  it was delicious, haha. we also found out that we get to go to the temple this thursday!! wednesday, was juan abrahams birthday.  he is the son of mamita. so we had steak and potatoes. really good.then we had cambios.  elder mauldwin came over into my area with me! we visited a less active and i talked quite a bit. elder mauldwin is really encouraging. its awesome. thenn we taught another less active and found 2 new investigators, and in every lesson i felt like i made a difference.  its nice to feel like your helping someone.  then we went and gave a new born baby and her mom a blessing! i even consecrated the oil!  that was my first time doing it in spanish! neat experience.  then thursday. today is my 100th day in the mission!!! and we got to go to the temple. i actually didnt get to do a session because im new and there wasnt enough room so i did initiatory.  still really cool. the last 2 times through there was an american guy there and he said the last parts in english for me!! so cool to here the blessings in both english and in spanish.  then i talked to an elder who was in my district in the ccm for a while.  it was neat to hear how he was doing with everything.  we could connect really well because we are in the same boat haha.i also talked to an elder from riverton high. i knew who he was but we werent friends or anything. he has 6 months in the mission. i was able to get another spanish book of mormon like the one i lost from another elder because he had 2! so lucky. i still had to buy it from him but it was cheaper than in the temple store.  then friday, we had a wedding of an investigator of elder mauldwin and reyes.  it was really fun.  and there was cake... i love the cake here haha.  there was dancing and music, and it was a blast even though we cant dance haha.  we also met a girl who apparently wants me to baptize her. so we will see this next week! im excited!! then saturday we talked to a less active girl who we had never met before and it was really cool because when i started to talk she really payed attention and i felt like what i said helped her and was what she needed to hear at that time. her parents arent members so we will be working on them this next week too.  we will also probably have at least 2 baptisms this next week.  2 siblings of nataly and jeremy! hope everything goes well with that!! then sunday we had church and the whole sacrament mtg was blessings. we had 4 confirmations and 3 baby blessings haha. so ya.. pretty neat but my eyes hurt from closing them for soo long haha. then we had pachamanca which is that food dad talked about it means earth and meat in ketchuaw which is the language of the people up in the mountains and forrest and stuff haha. cool.  it is really good i love it. its bean things, a potato and sweet potato, rice of course, and chicken.  really tasty. love the mission!! love all of you sooo much and i will try to write everyone letters soon!!!!
Other fun comment from Dallon:
so my favorite thing really is just talking to everyone.  the members and nonmembers.  they are all sooo nice and funny. it is normal here to have families just give you food everytime you visit haha. im going to weigh myself see if ive gained anything. haha.  im really close with some families. especially the paes family.
