Well hi everyone!!! Sorry that this email will be a little different from the rest because it is the last one that I will write here in Peru as a missionary. The mission is incredible. It has changed my life for the better. I have loved the time that I have spent here serving the people of Peru. I have come to develop a great love for this country. I love serving others and I love serving the Lord!!!
This week has been great and full of many more spiritual experiences. I have truly felt the spirit touch my heart here. I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ, he is our savior and our redeemer. He loves us so much. He knows us perfectly and individually. I have seen his hand touch the hearts of many here, including my own.
The Book of Mormon is the word of God. I invite all to read it and ponder about its teachings, then pray. God hears our prayers. He has answered so many of mine and I know that he is always listening and he does respond. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, he translated that book through the power of God.
I know that everything happens for a reason. God uses us as instruments in his hands. He has done this so many times in my mission. I have seen miracles. I have come to know God. I know that it isnt over. We have to continue. We have to follow Christ until the end, striving every single day to become more like him. I know that God lives. He exists. He wants all of his children to come back to him. He loves us so much that I cant express in words. He is there and will always be there to guide us through this life back to his presence. Trust him, Follow him, Pray to him. He is our master. If we do these things we shall obtain Eternal life, the greatest of all gifts. I love you all and thank you for your support and prayers. I promise to continue to serve until the day that I die. I love this gospel. I love God and will serve him for forever. Thank you all for helping me realize this. I love you!
Your faithful brother and friend,
Elder Dallon Maxwell, signing off for the last time. See you all soon! Love yall!!!

MONDAY, pday! We went to the center of Lima to buy a few little trinkets. It was fun! Then we talked to a less active about charity. Just what he needed really, he is still excited to come back to church! Awesome!
TUESDAY, we had our district meeting. We learned about listening with our hearts and not just hearing with our ears. Cool. Then we taught this lady who is kind of less active and it was cool because i asked some inspired questions and we were able to find a need that she had and help her with it. Then after she thanked us and said that we had helped her more than any of the past missionaries. It is cool how God sends us to the right place and the right time with the right people in order to help them! so cool!
WEDNESDAY, today we had Elder Carlos Godoy of the area 70 come and talk to us. Really cool. I learned a lot and was able to feel the spirit very strongly. He also asked at the beginning that those who are finishing their missions to go to the front and bear their testimonies, which is me...... really cool experience testifying about what i know in front of an area 70 and the missionaries. Once in a lifetime, a great spiritual experience.
THURSDAY, today we taught a recent convert. We are taking her to the temple tomorrow! So cool. That is truly the goal; getting people to go to the temple. Really incredible. Then we talked to a less active about forgiveness, how we need forgive all of those who have offended us. Even our enemies, we have to love everyone!
FRIDAY, today we got to go to the temple!!!! with the recent convert and Alberto. Really awesome experience. It was cool because some missionaries from lima norte, and it turns out they needed us in order to do their baptisms and one of the elders was with me in the ccm. It wasnt a coincidence! Gods hand was there in that.
SATURDAY, We helped our district leader contact in his area because they are struggling a little bit. Then we talked to our investigator and she is going to be baptized on October 10th most likely. It would be cool if my parents could be there for it so we are hoping for the best! Then we had a really short but really powerful lesson with a less active family. It was awesome. I love the spirit.
SUNDAY, today we had church and the classes were amazing. Then we contacted all day. haha. It was fun.
So that was my week more or less. Sorry it is a little short, but my time is also short. But I love you all and hope that you all are happy and well. Have a great next week! Love you all and see you all in 2 weeks!!!!!
MONDAY, pday, so we played soccer and climbed a little cerro. fun. haha.
TUESDAY, today we contacted a bunch. Not a ton of success. It is really hard to get into the houses here. From there we taught a member and come to find out she doesnt have a testimony but hey we can help her get one. She just is confused about a couple of things. Then we taught an investigator who hadn’t slept for 3 days for some reason. A little strange. haha. Then we did the pre interview for Elsa and did some paperwork then called it a day!
WEDNESDAY, today we had district meeting and we learned about the importance of the members when we teach. Really helpful. Then we visited 2 of our investigators. They are progressing little by little still. But hey, at least they are progressing! One of them is having a hard time getting to church still because of her baby. She has all the lessons but lacks the attendance. From there we taught a recent convert about the priesthood organization. It is a blessing to have the priesthood restored in these the latter days!
THURSDAY, today we did divisions and in the other area we had 0 lessons and contacted all day! Fun! haha.
FRIDAY, today was cool. We talked to a less active and we were able to find one of her needs! Wahoo. Now we can help her more so that’s good. Then we talked to a less active return missionary. We had a great lesson, really powerful. After the lesson he said that he wanted to go back to church and actually came! He is excited to reactivate himself! Cool. i love it when the spirit tells us what we need to say.
SATURDAY, we had Elsa’s baptism today! All went well and she was way happy! A lot of members came to her baptism and she feels great! Now we hope we can also take her to the temple to do baptisms for the dead! That would be sweet! From there we visited some other investigators. One of them told us that he couldnt receive our visits anymore. Sort of sad. Everyone has their agency right? But we are happy because there is a party in the heavens today because one more daughter decided to follow the Fathers path!
SUNDAY, Elsa got confirmed! An official member of the church! Sweet. After we ate some delicious lasagna. It was great. We ate so much that our stomachs hurt. haha. Then we taught a less active that has some personal problems that prevent him from wanting to come back to church and to read the scriptures. But little by little everything will be resolved. So i am just happy and i love it here. Not much more time to do this kind of work so i have to take advantage while i can! I love you all! Thanks for your support! Have a great next week!
MONDAY, so today we played a couple of fun games. Then after pday we went and taught Elsa who is now set to be baptized on the 12th! We are so excited for her. She is going to be a way strong convert to the church. Wahoo!!!
TUESDAY, we started off contacting a lot, after a while, long story short, they kicked us out of an area because some people called and complained. Anyway. haha. I felt a little bad but hey at least its not like in the scriptures that they throw us in jail right? haha. So then we taught a recent convert who is ready to go to the temple! Wahoo! Another great success! We are excited for her too! Then we taught a family whose daughter passed away less than a month ago. I admired the faith that they have. They are staying strong. I cant imagine how hard that would be.
WEDNESDAY, today we taught a strange investigator. He is way receptive but like he wont read the book of mormon until he finishes the bible and he recently started it. haha. So ya. haha. From there we taught a less active. She is feels that something is missing in her life. We tried to teach her that only God can fill that space. She understood, and knew what she had to do, so it was a success. The spirit told her what she needed to do in the lesson. Really cool.
THURSDAY, more contacting! haha. We had 3 contacts today that talked to us in English. A little weird. haha. Then we talked to a new investigator! Her name is Liz, yes another female; all the men are working and never home. haha. But she is married!!! And the family is really important to her and her husband so we are hoping to be able to teach all of them at the same time! Then we taught a less active, but it seems like everything went in one ear and went out the other. But hey we can only invite people to come unto Christ. They have to do the rest.
FRIDAY, today we had a zone meeting. They had me bare one of my last testimonies. haha. que trunky. anyway, it was really cool. The spirit was really strong and i felt it working through me. Really amazing. From there we taught a recent convert and a less active. Oh ya, so i did get my package today! Thanks to all! i love you guys! and ya! today flew by haha.
SATURDAY, today we talked to one of the first members in Peru. Pretty sweet to hear all of the stories she has. Incredible. A Peruvian pioneer! Then we talked to some less active teenage boys who dont go to church mainly because they sleep too much and cant get up in the morning. haha. Reminds me of myself a little haha. But it went well. One of them ended up coming on Sunday. So it was a success! Now he just has to keep coming! haha.
SUNDAY, church! Was the best like usual! Testimony meeting is always powerful and the sacrament of course. My favorite hour of the week! Then we visited a less active return missionary. Really sad honestly to go on a mission and then fall away. It is hard to get them to come back too. From there we visited a lady who is a chef, she had a restaurant in California. She is pretty high class. haha. She also gave us dinner and cooked a chicken pot pie. Pretty good! haha. So i was happy.
Well sorry that this email is a little short, i dont have much time and i cant type real fast haha. But i love you all and hope that you all have a great next week! Love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|Dallon emailing on the 31st * Elder Reed in the background|
MONDAY, so pday! Today we went sand surfing. ya... awesome, like sledding but on a sand dune. It was the best. Then we got transfers!!!! So i am getting transferred!!!! What!?!?!?!? To San Borja!!! One of the richest areas in the mission and i am going to be with elder Reed from Ohio!!! It is funny because i was with him in the same room when i was in Vitarte. So i already know him and we are already pals so i am excited!
TUESDAY, transfers! So first day in san broja we taught a new investigator named Dante. We just contacted him and he let us in, which apparently is super rare here. But ya, cool guy. He wants to learn more about God! Then we taught an investigator named Elsa, who has a baptismal date. She is awesome. She learns super fast and reads everything that we leave her. She has also gone to church like 6 times. Really cool.
WEDNESDAY, we taught a recent convert who is really cool too. She is preparing to go to the temple for the first time! She is facing some opposition in her life right now that is making it a little harder but she is strong and tells us everything so that we can help her. We shared some scriptures with her and then after she thanked us and told us that that was just what she had needed. Awesome! So this area is huge. haha. i am so lost. haha.
THURSDAY, Elder Bednar talked to us today!!! It was incredible!!! The spirit was so strong. He asked us questions the whole time. The whole 3 hours. His focus was on learning by faith and through the Holy Ghost; as we act and DO things that the lord commands, THEN the miracles will follow. We must be agents not objects. We must ask God to help us do things not ask Him to do it. For example, we shouldn’t ask him to help the people who didnt come to church that we to help them come the next week, but we should ask him to help them open the door and let us in as WE GO and visit them. Stuff like that. Really inspiring and amazing. He also taught us how we should teach so that people think and have the Holy Ghost touch them instead of us just giving a lecture. We need to guide them and help them become agents of their own, and not object. So i testify that Elder Bednar is called of God and God lives. I just know it.
FRIDAY, today we were able to teach another investigator who also has a baptismal date, but it is a little hard to teach her because her little daughter is very active and is always distracting her. haha. I love little kids, but sometimes they are difficult to control. but hey, they dont know any better. so ya, she is progressing and is going to church and everything. So we are happy. We have also been applying what elder bednar taught us and man does it work, we have had many spiritual experiences in the lessons. The spirit is stronger because he is the main teacher, not us. It is awesome!
SATURDAY, today we had district meeting! There are a ton and i mean a ton of sisters in this zone. Like half, maybe more than half. haha. 11 of them. But it is cool. i mean i grew up with all women so i am used to it. haha. Elder jeria, my old companion back in central is my district leader. Cool. so after the meeting we taught a recent convert who is ready to go to the temple now! We just have to make a date and we might be able to go to! This being the first time and everything. So then we taught Elsa again and she had a few doubts about the book of mormon so we decided to talk about that and we had an amazing lessons. After she didnt have doubts and had felt the spirit. Really amazing experience. So now she is going to pray to see if she is going to get baptized this week or if she is going to wait until next week. We will see. She has almost all the lessons and has gone to church a lot, so she is more than ready. Awesome!
SUNDAY, we had church! It was great. Cool to see how different wards work and everything. This ward has a bunch of important people in it. Area 70s and army generals and stuff. haha. I enjoyed it. After we taught our investigator the rest of lesson two, her daughter had a tablet so she was a lot more tranquila this time. haha. We were able to teach without interruptions. haha. Then we ate in the house of an area 70 for dinner. He has been a mission president too. He gave us some really good advice as missionaries and as members in general.
Well, that was my week! i loved it. Full of the spirit! I love you all and hope that you can all also feel the spirit this week! It is amazing! See you soon! Love yall!
Thursday, August 27, 2015
MONDAY, pday, so we played soccer on an artificial field with another zone. Really fun. Then we had a lesson after with a family on family history work. cool!
TUESDAY, today was awesome. So we had our district meeting and learned about leaving our areas stronger than when we found them. Later we had some awesome appointments. We did divisions and i went and taught karol, an investigator and we had a great lesson on the restoration and she understood it all really well and the spirit was there, wow, i cant even describe it. Just amazing, also my comp found some great new investigators that we are going to start teaching!! The blessings!!!!
WEDNESDAY, today we were able to teach julio cesar. He is a great guy and has a sincere desire to follow Jesus Christ. We are helping him understand the organization of Christ’s church and how that church is the only true church upon the face of the earth. Then we taught some other investigators who want to get married. Well that’s a first. haha. They also want to know more about how our belief in Christ can help and strengthen us as a family. Awesome!!!
THURSDAY, today we taught a bunch of member families. Like seriouly a lot. haha. Our lessons with investigators fell through and well we were just guided to these families. We hope that this will help us find new investigators through their references. References are always the best. Today we also taught a less active girl who doesnt believe in God..... it is sad to see a person reject this message even though they feel it and know that it is true, it is just that because of certain events they harden their hearts and push Him out of their lives...
FRIDAY, today we did some more divisions with some members. We were able to teach the investigators that want to get married. Well the lady. Her name is matilde and her couple is elmer. We taught matilde and she is really receptive. She wants to learn more and always has really good questions. Then we contacted a bit to try and find new people to teach. We always need to find more. haha. The more the better.
SATURDAY, today we taught 2 new investigators who are working here in lima but are from another part of Peru. They had been listening to the jehovas witnesses before and are curious to see the difference that we have with all other religions. Then we taught another couple of investigators who also want to get married, but its hard because they dont go to church.... they were going to go but then they had to work. Just like last week... a little tough.
SUNDAY, today i complete 22 months in the mission. Wow. We had church and honestly this Sunday was very inspiring and spiritual for me. I was able to receive inspiration and the classes were on just what I needed and helped me understand a lot more about the temple and the sacrament. Incredible really. I loved it. Really every Sunday should be like this. We should go and try to listen to the spirit because he will teach us what we need to know. The talk that a sister was giving was on the book of Mormon, but during it i received revelation about the temple. Really cool. I felt the spirit, which taught me what i needed to know. Sweet. I love this gospel.
Well i hope that all of you can have inspiring experiences and can feel the spirit this week because it is truly wonderful. I love you all and can’t wait to see you all again. Take care!!!!
MONDAY, pday! We played a couple of games; you know to get all the jiggles out. Then later we had a noche de hogar with Isabel and some members. She is progressing a lot and has a testimony it’s just that she has forgotten that. So also today we received the news that a member of the 70 is coming to visit us this week and then next week, and then ELDER BEDNAR IS COMING!!!!! The next week. I am sooooooo excited. He is my favorite apostle. A great way to finish the mission. haha.
TUESDAY, today we had district meeting. We learned about how the restoration is the main message that we share with people and how important it really is that we teach it to everyone! Later, we talked to some less actives who got offended by some members of the church.... it is hard to get them to come back sometimes, they just need to realize that the members arent perfect and that we really go to church because we love God and want to obey him and nothing else.
WEDNESDAY, today we found a new investigator contacting who wants to follow Christ and get help with some problems that he is facing right now in his life. The only problem is that he has 2 houses and so it is hard to visit him because half of the time he is in one house and the other in the other. haha. Then we talked to Sylvia about the law of chastity and understood it really well. She is going to think about it and how it affects her and then she will make a decision about what she is going to do.
THURSDAY, today we had interviews with president!!!!!! He is so awesome! He has helped me so much in my mission. He always knows exactly what to say. So we got back from interviews at 5. Super late, but we were able to have a lesson with Isabel who is improving on remembering everything including her own testimony, which is awesome. She is doing really well.
FRIDAY, today we did divisions. Elder melin came into my area and we visited a couple of people and we had a bit of success. We did contact a lot today but i have come to like to contact. You never know who is behind that door!
SATURDAY, today we did a tiny service project. We moved like two things but it was fun. So later we talked to Sylvia again and taught about the Sabbath day. She is now going to look to get another job so that she can go to church on Sunday! She is progressing a lot. Then we taught a less active who doesnt have a testimony so we are going to teach all the lessons again so that she can get one.
SUNDAY, I got to bless the sacrament today! It was awesome. I love blessing the sacrament, it is a great experience. Later we taught two new investigators who are passing through some rough times but we had a great spiritual lesson and they want us to continue to teach them and everything! It is awesome! So that was my week. Sorry I have little time. haha.
I love you all! Have a great next week!
MONDAY, ok, so today we played steal the flag, way fun, and then some soccer. It was a blast! Then we had a noche de hogar with our pension. It went great. We talked about the power of the Atonement. what a great topic. The most important event in the history of mankind!
TUESDAY, today we had a zone meeting and we got new goals of excellence. They are now the following: 20 lessons with investigators, 70 contacts or trained families, (or combined), 50 references asked for, and 10 baptismal invitations. This is helping us focus a little bit more on our purpose as missionaries which is baptize! So from there we contacted almost the whole day haha. But we found a couple of future investigators so that is good.
WEDNESDAY, today we taught a less active who is an artist. cool. He hasn't gone to church in 20 years because he sells his paintings on weekends so we will have to see what we can do to help him go back after not going for so long. Then we taught a recent convert about the restoration, reviewing a few things to strengthen that testimony! oh ya!
THURSDAY, we did divisions with the zone leaders and I went into the zone leaders area with an elder limaico. Cool guy from Ecuador. But before the divisions we taught a way cool first lesson with some contacts, one girl is 17 then a guy who is 20. They are brother sister and are really interested in our message. They might be chosen ones! haha .Super cool.
FRIDAY, today we taught the 17 yr old again. Her name is Jacky. She has a big desire to learn. She picked up on the lesson way quick and understood all of it. Sweet! from there we didnt have too much luck. But we are still working, trying to find new people. Oh. and our water heater broke! haha. Ice showers again! love it! wahhoooo!!!!
SATURDAY, today was a great day. We taught a lot of new investigators who have a great potential and true interest in what we have to say. They all accepted the invitation to be baptized if they feel in their hearts that it is the right decision to make. The only obstacle is actually getting them to that point now. haha. But i know that with faith and works, everything is possible. God's will, will be done.
SUNDAY, church! All of our investigators that we taught, who said that they were going to come, didnt show. Dang it. well. what can you do, they have their agency. grrrrrr. ....... haha. From there we also had a good day, taught a couple of families and some less actives who arent showing a lot of interest in going back.... sad. We just have to keep trying though. anyway.
Well, that was my week! I love the mission i love life. i am happy! i hope all of you can be happy too! have a great next week! love you all!
Tuesday, August 4, 2015
MONDAY, today we played a couple of sports, handball, soccer, stuff like that. Then we had a cool Noche de Hogar where we talked about being examples all the time, whether it be with family friends or with God! Always act the same!
TUESDAY, district meeting! We talked about the importance of members in the lessons because if a member is there than the investigator automatically has a friend at church so that they feel more comfortable and stuff. Then we found a cool new investigator named Sylvia. She lives with some members and has never been baptized, but wants to be! Cool! Then we taught a family, the one whose son served in the Barricks ward in eagle Idaho, small world. Oh ya! So today is Peru’s Independence Day! Feliz dia Peru!!! A lot of people are drinking and stuff to celebrate. haha fun.
WEDNESDAY, today we taught a less active about the Sabbath. It was a great lesson and I guess it worked because she came to church, so that is awesome! Later we taught about the restoration with a recent convert, reviewing it all. It is cool when you teach about the basics with someone who already has a testimony about it because it helps you strengthen your testimony a lot because you understand things better. Way cool!
THURSDAY, so today we found 2 new investigators, one knows everything about the church haha. He has family in Utah and has even read books by Brigham Young and stuff haha, but doesnt want to be baptized just because he doesnt want to haha. Weird, but ya we can’t force him to do anything. Then we taught Sylvia again. She is awesome and I think she will progress a lot the only problem is that she isnt married. ahhhhhhhh. Makes life difficult. haha.
FRIDAY, today was a little difficult for some reason. No one let us in haha. We did teach a less active. We are trying to help her read her scriptures because she hasnt read in months. The scriptures are so important. We just cant progress without reading them. It is our guide, our compass, if we dont use it we will get lost.
SATURDAY, we taught another less active about the scriptures and set the goal with her to start to reading them again. Then we taught Sylvia once again and she is continuing to learn more, she wants to learn more and wants to be close to God, all she needs to do is pray and come to church.
SUNDAY, we had an amazing testimony meeting. I have never seen so many people bear their testimonies. It was awesome! Really powerful! Then we had a great Sunday class. Isabel, the less active, came and she brought her jewish friend too. Pretty cool! Then we started proselyting late once again and only were able to teach two short lessons, but I felt good and that is what is important.
Well, that is my week! Thank you all for supporting me! This mission has changed my life! I love you all! Have a great next week!
PDAY, we went to Gamarra today, a place with a lot of people and a lot of stores. I didnt buy anything so it was kind of boring, but after we went to a cool Noche de Hogar (family home evening) and it was great!
TUESDAY, district meeting. We talked about opening our mouth and looking for those opportunities to find new people to teach. After that we taught a new investigator. Well a couple actually, from what we have seen, none seem like chosen ones but maybe after a little bit of time they might have a change of heart and come unto Christ so we are going to keep on teaching and see what happens.
WEDNESDAY, today we started off contacting and had a lot of success, made a couple of appointments. We also were able to find a new investigator. A 19 year old girl named Angelica whose brother is a member. She has a lot of potential. She thinks about things a lot and studies them. I think that after a little bit of time she will be baptized. She is really cool. Then we had a Noche de Hogar again and talked about the most important moments in our lives. So true, we need to focus on the things that really matter.
THURSDAY, today I officially have 21 months in the mission! How crazy is that. Time keeps on flying by. Today we also did service by fixing a roof. It was really fun! haha. Then we taught Isabel, a less active and we took members with us which helped a ton! Members are awesome! Then we had the same luck but this time it was with an investigator. The members testimonies also helped a ton in the lesson!
FRIDAY, we went to the temple today!!!!!!!!!! It was absolutely amazing. I love the temple! I love love love love love it!!!!!!!!!!!!! It helped me open my eyes a little bit more and helped me see what God has in store for me. It helped me understand more about the importance of Gods plan. Amazing. Then we taught 2 investigators who said that they would come to church which is what they ended up doing! They have a baptismal date, now we just need to help them stay on this path until that date. haha.
SATURDAY, today we taught a less active named Lucy. She is way cool, knows a lot. She just doesnt go to church very often, kinda sad. We are trying to help her get the habit. Then we taught Angelica and helped her understand a little more about the restoration. She is progressing! Learning more and more and she reads everything that we leave her!
SUNDAY, church! We had a ton of people come with us to church today! Like 8 investigators. Some cant get baptized due to problems with marriage and stuff haha, but at least they are continuing to follow Christ! Strengthening their testimonies!! After we delayed once again due to problems with the members who were going to give us lunch, but we were able to help a couple more people. The investigators with the whole marriage issue, but soon that will all be resolved and they will be able to be baptized!!!!!!!
Well thanks to everyone for all the support!!! The church is true! I know it! Have a great week! read, pray, everyday!!!!!!!! Love you!!!!!!!!!
PDAY, so we got transfers today and I am headed to villa Alegre Surco! Should be fun!
TUESDAY, transfers! So Surco is cool. It is a really nice place. The pension is absolutely awesome. Our room is super tiny though, like literally the size of my bedroom. haha. It’s just me and my comp here. I am just starting to get to know people and work! My comp is elder Macias from Mexico and he has about 15 months in the mission. Cool!
WEDNESDAY, today we had our district meeting. There are a ton of sisters in this zone. haha. One of them is Jonathan Rigtrips girlfriend. haha. She just got here. She has a month in the mission haha. So from there we taught a couple of less actives and some families. We are trying to work a lot with the members and we are also working a ton with less actives. There is a lot of potential here. We just got to keep on working!
THURSDAY, today we were guided by the spirit to a service project! I love service. Then we contacted a bunch, still trying to get to know the area. It’s hard to get in a groove. I feel a little lost, but with time I am sure I will get the groove back. Oh! I did have to shower with a bucket today. haha. They shut our water off for three days haha. Fun! Now I can say I have bathed with a bucket! haha
FRIDAY, we had pancakes for breakfast with maple syrup!!! Oh my gosh. It was sooooo good. I miss pancakes. I am going to eat 10 every morning when I get back haha. Then we taught a family and it was cool because as we were planning yesterday, without knowing who these people really were, the thought of teaching them about tithing came to mind. Long story short, we taught it and it was exactly what they needed. One of them even said that he had been thinking about tithing that morning! Cool! I love the spirit!
SATURDAY, today we found a ton of new investigators just from contacting, like 4 people just let us in. Sweet!!! That is what this area needs. When I got here there were literally 0 investigators. Wow, haha. There is work to do! Later we talked to a guy who is Jewish! Cool guy. We made an appointment with him. So we will see!
SUNDAY, church! The ward is the biggest ward that I have been in, a lot more reverence. I like it. haha. The stake president gave a talk today about the Sabbath day. It was awesome. Later lunch delayed a lot. Church gets out at 2 so it’s a little hard. We start working late, but we did teach a recent convert who wants to go to the temple with his wife. Cool! There are a lot of people here who are working on going to the temple for the first time! I hope to be able to go with a lot of them. When you go with someone who is going for the first time it is a really neat experience.
Well! That is my first week in this new area! We will see how it continues! Thank you all for all your support! I love you all! Have a grand next week!!!!!!!!!!
Tuesday, July 14, 2015
MONDAY, pday! well due to some elders who didnt have their room clean the whole zone had to have a room cleaning pday! fun. haha. After that we talked to Antony. It is just a little hard to get him to believe in something that he cannot see but he is getting better with that, just with time, just like Ricardo haha.
TUESDAY, today we were able to teach a new investigator named Christian, he is 20 and he just needs a little bit of help in his life with motivation and stuff. We had a good first lesson with him and we are going to go back this next week. Then we taught another investigator named juan carlos but he sort of believes that just by listening to us he can get better spiritually. He still doesn't quite understand that he actually has to do something like go to church and stuff like that, but we are going to help him with that.
WEDNESDAY, we had our zone meeting today and it was cool because 2 elders gave their last testimony because they are going home. One of them went around and said what he had learned from each and every one of us, really cool. I hope to be in contact with them after. Elder Stoddard, one of them, is going to snow college and the other Elder Batty has been my zone leader for a long time. He followed me here to Campoy. haha. Really great elders. After that we talked to Antony and Ricardo who both are continuing on the path to eternal life, just slowly. I wish it would go faster but it helps me develop charity. The desire and caring about them enough to continue helping them follow Jesus Christ. We also taught Jarol, the guy with one leg, he is really cool and he read what we had left him and is really interested in our message.
THURSDAY, so today something really interesting happened. We were walking to our plan "B" when we saw a 13 yr old kid in a passageway throw a kitten 20 feet in the air with a stick. We asked him what he was doing and told him to please not abuse the kitten, then we continued on our way but me, being an animal lover, I had to go back. So we did only to find him kicking the kitten this time. So we went up to him and started talking. We introduced ourselves and told him what we did. We talked a little about life and how everyone should have the equal opportunity to live even animals who are a creation of life and also we talked about how our heavenly father loves us and some other things, anyway we got him to leave the kitten alone and we walked with him a ways towards his house. Then we said goodbye and went back to see how the kitten was. Its nose was cut, having a hard time breathing and beat up just a little. So we picked it up with a bag and took it to our pension who, come to find out, had actually been looking for a kitten to have as a pet. So she kept it, bathed it and gave it some food and now it is recovering and is fine! We named it max after Maxwell. haha. Anyway, later we taught an investigator named jose palacin who is really interested in the book of mormon and wants to find the true church. We taught a great lesson with the spirit and he is going to read and pray! Sweet!
FRIDAY, today was ok. We taught angel and andres who want us to start visiting them more often again. Sometimes it is hard to know when to leave people, but if they want us to teach them i feel like we need to do so. Even if they dont progress very fast. Who knows, maybe after a little they will feel that they need to be baptized. Patience and charity. Then we contacted a bit and made a bunch of appointments.
SATURDAY, so today we taught a bunch of new investigators who are really interested in learning a bit more of the word of God. We have had some great first lessons today and we are excited to see how each and every one of them progress.
SUNDAY we had church! And it is my comps birthday! He is now 26 years old. Wow. haha. After church we had a great lesson with a 20 year old girl named Kate. She is chosen i think. She has a ton of questions and takes notes when we were teaching her and also during sunday school. She is really cool. So we will see if she gets her answer. If she does we will have a baptism in 2 weeks. She is more then ready. She has a great desire to learn and do be better, so we shall see. I sort of dont want to leave this are because we have found a lot of great people who have a desire to learn more, at the same time this area is kinda hard. We dont have much help from members and we dont teach a whole lot. So we will just have to see what God wants.
Well, thank you all for your support! I love you all and hope that you have a great next week! see ya!!!!!!!!!!
Tuesday, July 7, 2015
MONDAY, pday! So we just slept, which is really what i needed haha.
TUESDAY, today was a little rough. We had plans to teach a couple of people like Noelia whose mom has recently moved here and is interested in the hearing a bit more about the church, but the priesthood holder who was going to go with us fell through like literally last minute. We were waiting for him and he sent us a message saying that he couldnt. Frustrating. Sometimes it is hard to rely on others. You want to help but you just cant. We taught Ricardo and i just dont know what it is going to take to help him make his decision. We just have to be persistent and keep moving forward.
WEDNESDAY, we had to get up way early to go to the clinic today; I also havent been able to eat because i was going to have blood work done. So basically no food in stomach, Peruvian buses, traffic, 3 hour ride....... not fun. I felt way sick. but we got there, got the blood work done and then went to eat. Then we went to la molina and ate lunch with the office missionaries and then went back to the clinic for my appointment. We got the results. I had a lung infection but due to the antibiotics I am doing great now! Then we drove back to our area. so much bus riding. bleh.
THURSDAY, today we had our district meeting. We talked about the importance of the time that we have in the morning to study before starting the day. It is so true. Studying in the morning is like eating a spiritual breakfast. The most important meal of the day! Then we taught a new investigator who has a bunch of questions about the church and is really interested. His name is Jarol and he also only has one leg. He is a cool guy! Then we taught Antony who is an interesting case. He believes that religion can help one in life, but he doesnt believe in a supreme being. He believes in the teachings of the gospel but not in the person who created it.
FRIDAY, today we talked to Ricardo again. We talked about what he thinks about the book of mormon. I think that that is what we need to talk about more. The book of mormon is key in everything. We just need to get him to read it more so that his testimony can grow.
SATURDAY, HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!! They dont celebrate that here so today was just normal haha. We taught some investigators today but they took the lesson as a joke. It made me feel bad because they cant see the importance of the message that we have. They just dont get it. It’s sad. Then some weird guy started testing our knowledge about the bible and the gospel. I think he was some kind of preacher. Very interesting. Like God said. You shall not be confounded before men. haha. Then as we were walking to our appointments it was cool because i felt impressed 3 times and each time we talked to a teenager and made appointments with them. cool!
SUNDAY, church! Church was good. Ricardo came. Fast and testimony meeting, later we also taught Ricardo about the book of mormon and he said that he would put more time into reading it so that he can progress a little faster. Awesome. Then we taught a recent convert family and also an old investigator! We have like 20 set appointments already for this next week so we are excited! Especially that we havent been having very many lessons.
Well, that was my week more or less. haha. i hope that you all have a great next week too! i love all of you and pray for all of you every day! You are the best! Love yall!
**Luckily Dallon is doing much better and the bloodwork came back looking good! Thank heavens he got to the doctor when he did and got on an antibiotic quickly. Thanks to President Howell for making sure that Dallon's mission president knew about everything and kept in contact with his President and let us know everything that was happening. Thanks to his awesome President and his wife for watching over him. Please continue to keep Elder Maxwell in your prayers we know they help so much**
MONDAY, so first today I woke up at about 2 am and i couldnt breath too well. I almost woke my comp up but I was able to go back to sleep. Then we went to internet, I almost wasnt able to go. I had a lot of pressure in my chest and a bad migraine, but got through it. Later we got a medical appointment set up for Wednesday and i just rested all day in the zone leaders room. But later we had a cool noche de hogar and it went great!
TUESDAY, today i completed 20 months in the mission! Crazy right? We had district meeting today. it is cold and i just had to bundle up as much as i could and went. A sister gave me a nice scarf which has helped a ton! In the meeting we talked about contacting, how to do it better. Then we did divisions, i went with elder tello into his area. We walked a ton because we dont have bus fare. We hiked pretty much. haha. cerros. It was a little hard on my lungs. I was walking slow so we didnt have much success, well we did teach two families of investigators and they felt the spirit which is a success really.
WEDNESDAY, we had a multizone! Pres Boswell and his wife taught amazingly. They talked about always being the same person whether it be alone, with friends, family, or president maybe and also about staying by the tree, talking about the tree of life. Awesome. Then they gave us a new mission tradition. Every night at 10 we pray kneeling down as a mission. Pretty cool! We also had subway for lunch. yummm! President is awesome! Then we headed off to the doctor which is really far away. haha. We got there and i had my xray done, they gave me some pills. i was supposed to also take the blood test that day, but it was late and elder russel told me that i had to wait on that one. We made another appointment for the next Wednesday to see the results and stuff and to take the blood test....... yay! I hate needles! Then we left and it was way late. We got sort of lost and we had to in the end call president to get permission to take a taxi. Long story, because no one was answering their phones. anyway.
THURSDAY, today was a little rough and slow. We only had one lesson with a new investigator who has a lot of doubts about the idea of another book from God. But he did let us make another appointment and also he asked us for the church’s website. So cool! Then later we had to go in early because it was cold and it was making it so it was hard to breath a bit. My heavy sweater was getting washed. Ya......
FRIDAY, today we talked to Ricardo and we sort of got off topic and talked about bible passages. Honestly it wasnt something that one needs to be know in order to saved. Sort of waste of time, but it is hard sometimes to keep him on the same topic. He likes to talk a lot. Then the priesthood holder who was going to go with us bailed out and 3 appointments fell through because of it..... so we made the most of it and contacted! Then we were also able to find some recent converts and we taught them about the importance of daily scripture study. Sweet!
SATURDAY today we taught some new investigators. They are pretty cool. They have a strong desire to have a strong and happy family! We have the perfect message for them! Then we taught another guy who knows that God is really important in our lives and always makes him a part of his own life. He had a couple of questions and as we answered them we invited him to baptism and he said yes! If he receives an answer of course! But it is a start!
SUNDAY, church! Ricardo came! We learned about honor and the importance of the family! Great classes! Later i had to eat a mountain of food. It was sooooo much. Then we talked to Antony who is progressing toward obtaining his testimony that God lives and in choosing to believe in Him instead of theories. We also talked to Ricardo who is sooooooo close to making the decision to finally be baptized. We watched the restoration and then asked him a couple of questions about his feelings about the book of mormon. He told us that he felt it was from God and that there was no way that a young man at the age of about 21 could translate such a book. So we invited him to think about what he should do next and we are going to go back on Tuesday.
So that was my week! Thank you all for your prayers and support this last week! they have helped me a ton! i love you all and hope that all is well and that you all have a great next week! love you!!!!
MONDAY, pday! We played a little soccer and then watched the Croods. Funny movie. Then we had a cool noche de hogar with a less active family and the lesson was perfect for them. One of the sisters really wants to go back to church now! Awesome!
TUESDAY, district meeting. We learned about commitments, which is how we invite people to repent. Always a great review. After we talked to milagros and esau and they committed to read the book of mormon. They said that the last two times but this time will be different! With faith! Then we talked to Ricardo and taught the restoration and it really helped him think a little bit about the formation of Christ’s church and what it needs to have, little by little we are getting there!
WEDNESDAY, first we started to set up chairs for an activity later tonight. fun!. Then we sort of had a rough day. I havent been feeling to great which doesnt help but we just got to keep moving along! Then we watched meet the mormons for the activity! We had a great turnout of investigators which was awesome!
THURSDAY, we started out doing service for Ricardo, and then we taught him! He just needs to make his decision, little by little but i really do believe that he will eventually. Then later we passed by an investigators house and knocked on the door. They were home and we taught an awesome lesson! It was great! They said that they are going to read the book of mormon to see what its like. i sure hope that they feel that it is true!
FRIDAY today we found a new investigator with a lot of potential! Her name is Jazmin and she basically is scared of god. Which is good. It’s always to obey through love instead of fear but its start! She wants God to consider her as one of his true daughters. So ya, we are going to start to teach her. Then we taught a family exactly what they needed. Cool. Then we also taught Reinaldo and we were a little frank with him but he understood the message! So now we will see if he changes!
SATURDAY, we went to the cultural ceremony thing for the temple dedication. Awesome. Cool to see some of the traditional dances and stuff! That took most of the day.
SUNDAY, we went to the temple dedication which was amazing. It felt like we were actually there in Trujillo even though it was just broadcasted to the stake center. Really neat. After, i threw up and then rested the whole day. Fun haha.
So that was my week! Sorry its a little short. Well, i hope that you all have a great next week! Love you all!
MONDAY, pday! We played soccer and watched frozen! Awesome! Then we taught Noelia to get her all ready for her baptism this Saturday! Awesome!
TUESDAY, we had our zone mtg. We learned how to recognize the spirit. The spirit is amazing and i think that it is the most important thing to learn to recognize in this life. Then after we found 2 new investigators and had a great lesson with them! Sometimes people have great desires to do things but aren’t willing to achieve it, or to do what it takes, but we have to help realize that it is possible and help them work to it!
WEDNESDAY, today we talked to some new inv. We had contacted a guy and then we ended up teaching him! Cool! Then we talked to Ricardo who is honestly the same. We are trying to help him but we just cant seem to recognize his answer. We will have to change tactics.
THURSDAY, today was ok, we could have done better. We talked to a couple of people. We did teach Noelia again. Her testimony is growing and is very sensitive to the spirit. A really cool girl.
FRIDAY, we talked to Ricardo again, who is still the same...... i dont get it honestly, but we need to have patience and diligence. Those two go together very well. So the kid that we contacted and invited him to be baptized on his doorstep, ya we went back and taught his mom and his brother!!! A whole new family! There are a lot of boys in the family so hopefully we can get them all together and make a miracle happen! It went great! The spirit was there. The mom had questions and we taught all of lesson 1! So awesome!!!!!
SATURDAY, today we proselyted with the missionaries from the mtc. It went well. The member that went with us didnt know where he was going and lead us in circle for an hour and a half. But it ended up being a good experience. Then we had Noelias baptism!!!! It was awesome!!!! I got to baptize her. The spirit was super strong. Right after I lifted her out of the water i asked her how she felt, and she said with a huge smile. Feliz!!!! Even though the water was freezing cold (we are in winter) she could feel the warmth of the spirit telling her that she is now on the road to eternal life!
SUNDAY, I gave a talk in church! On charity and how important it is to love God and our neighbor like unto us. Then I applied it to missionary work by talking about that if we love our neighbor, we would serve them and the best way or the best thing is the gospel! So if we love God and our neighbor, we will share the gospel! Then we talked to an investigator that we have been teaching. He had a lot of doubts but accepted to read the Book of Mormon and to pray about it. He is an Israelite but he wants to know how to find the true church with so many churches today!
Well that was my week more or less. Sorry I was a little short on time. I love you all and hope that you all have a great next week! nos vemos!!!!
